Edmonton Workshop Presenter

Position Title: Edmonton Engagement Specialist (Contract Position)

Summary

GreenLearning is a young and rapidly evolving organization searching for a part-time Edmonton Workshop Presenter. We are seeking a casual contractor to assist with our engagement and outreach to educators and students in Edmonton, Alberta. The position will deliver in-person, one hour sessions for students in grades 3 to 8 at least once per week throughout the school year. You will work with our Engagement Manager to develop the session to assist in engaging students with our various program and action challenges. You may also support other engagement activities in Edmonton such as teachers’ conventions.

This is a perfect opportunity for a Bachelor or Graduate Education student, part-time educator, substitute teacher, retired teacher or someone with experience delivering sessions to the public at community events or attractions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and professional in-person sessions for classes in grades 3 to 8 in the Edmonton region.
  • Work with the Engagement Manager to develop the session to ensure it meets GreenLearning’s standard for quality, evidence-based and engaging sessions.
  • Use Edmonton Public Schools’ Career Pathways Community Marketplace platform to ensure we are delivering booked sessions as per the calendar and work with the teachers to co-ordinate final details for the session such as time.
  • Complete any preparation and follow-up for sessions
  • Complete engagement tracking information and feedback with the Engagement Manager.
  • Represent GreenLearning in a professional manner with educators and students.
  • Participate in other engagement events as assigned.

Details

  • This is a casual contractor position to deliver in-person sessions for grades 3 to 8 starting in January and ending in mid-June.
  • The contractor would be paid $90 for each session delivered. The maximum number of sessions will be 31. There is no guaranteed minimum as it is based on teacher demand. The per-session payment includes any preparation, travel time and travel expenses. We will work with the contractor to outline a schedule for the sessions.
  • Would need to be available to deliver sessions during the school day.
  • Some additional work may be possible and would be paid at the rate of $30/hour.
  • Travel to schools is required so access to a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license with $2 million in insurance coverage is preferred.
  • The position would start in January.
  • A vulnerable sector check may need to be attained if required by school boards.
  • Contractor would supply their own laptop and additional workshop materials (e.g. printing of materials or hands-on materials) for presentations. GreenLearning would cover expenses for printing and other materials needed.
  • Contractor would invoice GreenLearning once per month.
