Environmental Educator

Full time, short-term contract position @ 35 hours per week to December 2025

The Position:

Ecosource is seeking a passionate, self-motivated educator to join our Waste Education team. This position will primarily consist of the preparation, maintenance, and delivery of Peel Region’s Waste Workshops to schools in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-school waste education workshops with set and specific key messages on waste reduction, including the role of waste management in climate adaptation.
  • Document relevant project information, specifically data from program delivery, milestones and evaluation.
  • Support the development and facilitation of climate change-themed programs for various audiences, including children, youth and teachers.
  • Support the technical development and modification of program materials using a STEM lens.
  • Support the evaluation of Ecosource’s programs with a focus on Ontario curriculum expectations.
  • Assist with other Ecosource programming and activities as required, including workshops at our Community Climate Hub.
  • Represent the core values of Ecosource in the community.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in education or environmental sciences/studies, or equivalent work/lived experience.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with students ranging from age 5 to 14.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues including waste reduction.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Energetic, flexible, and self-motivated.
  • Familiarity with the Peel Region is an asset, as is OCT membership, experience working with and/or teaching in diverse communities (including with special needs and ESL learners), and the non-profit sector.
  • Daily access to a vehicle for travel to schools within Peel Region and the office or other sites within the community is required.

Application Information:

This is a short-term contract position at a rate of $26.00 per hour at 35 hours/week from mid September to December 2025. Access to personal days and 6% vacation pay are included in the position. Due to the nature of this role, this position is primarily in-person at schools across Peel Region, with occasional remote work when work duties permit.

A Police Record Check will be required upon hiring.
