General Description
The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee (JCSC) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated individual to join our team as an Ecological Restoration & Stewardship Intern. This position supports the restoration, protection, and long-term health of the Junction Creek watershed through hands-on ecological restoration, environmental monitoring, community stewardship, and public engagement initiatives across Greater Sudbury/ N'Swakamok.
Working alongside JCSC staff, volunteers, and community partners, the intern will coordinate and deliver habitat restoration projects, environmental monitoring and research, and community stewardship activities. They will also assist with project planning, data management, reporting, and communications while gaining valuable experience in ecological restoration, watershed management, conservation science, and nonprofit environmental program delivery.
Responsibilities
The Ecological Restoration & Stewardship Intern will work under the supervision of the Executive Director and Program Manager while collaborating with staff, volunteers, community partners, Indigenous communities, municipalities, and other stakeholders to implement ecological restoration and stewardship initiatives throughout the Junction Creek watershed.
This position offers hands-on experience in habitat restoration, environmental monitoring, community engagement, project coordination, conservation research, and nonprofit operations while providing opportunities to develop technical field skills and contribute to meaningful environmental conservation initiatives.
The intern's primary focus will be coordinating and implementing ecological restoration and stewardship projects while supporting environmental monitoring, scientific reporting, community engagement, and public education.
