Position: Restoration Technician
Company: Echo Ecological Enterprises LTD
Location: Lower Mainland, BC

Eligibility: 30 & under (see below)
Start Date: Mid-July 2025
Wage: $23/hour | 37.5 hours/week

This is a seasonal position running from Mid-July to mid-December, with the possibility of extension based on project funding and performance.

Position Overview:

We're hiring a Restoration Technician to assist with hands-on restoration projects across the Lower Mainland. You'll work with a small team in restoring the ecological health of natural areas by removing invasive species, planting native vegetation, stabilizing slopes, and supporting youth education activities.

In addition to physical fieldwork, you'll support project documentation, data entry, and research.

This is a physically demanding outdoor job in all weather conditions. You’ll be on your feet for long periods, regularly carrying loads up to 30 kg and using tools daily. Access to a vehicle is required to reach project sites.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform invasive species removal, native planting, slope stabilization, and site maintenance
  • Support youth education and community engagement activities
  • Represent Echo Ecological respectfully with public, partners, and First Nations collaborators
  • Follow all safety procedures

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of native and invasive plant species in BC
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Organized, reliable, and able to prioritize tasks independently
  • Excellent team player with a collaborative mindset

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license + access to a reliable vehicle 
  • Physically fit and able to lift and carry up to 30 kg
  • Must have weather-appropriate clothing and PPE
  • Experience in landscaping or other physically demanding outdoor work
  • Experience with public engagement or environmental education
  • Education in environmental science or a related field

Assets:

  • Emergency First Aid & CPR certification


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Must be legally entitled to work in British Columbia
  • Must be 30 years of age or under at the start of employment
