Position: Northern Outreach Coordinator

Location: Must be currently living in northern Ontario.

The Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) is seeking an outgoing, collaborative and community-oriented coordinator with knowledge of the agriculture sector in northern Ontario, as well as Indigenous food systems, to join the staff team as Northern Outreach Coordinator. Indigenous applicants with experience living in a First Nation Community are strongly encouraged to apply for this role.

Reporting to EFAO’s Northern Outreach, New Farmer Programs and Operations Director and working closely with the Indigenous Outreach and Engagement Advisor, the Northern Outreach Coordinator will assist with promoting EFAO’s programs and services for farmers and Indigenous growers, seeking out new opportunities for partnership and collaboration with farmers, growers, organizations and First Nations communities in the north and assisting staff with coordinating educational events in northern Ontario.

EFAO is an educational and membership organization that supports farmers, growers and land stewards to build resilient ecological farms and grow a strong knowledge sharing community through farmer-led education, research and community building. Position Details:

Position: Northern Outreach Coordinator

Location: Remote from home office, based in Northern Ontario.

Hours of Work: 21 hours/week

Start date: September 1st - 15th, 2025

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension

Salary: $30,000 - $33,000/year

Responsibilities:

• Promote EFAO’s educational events, programs and services for farmers and Indigenous growers in northern Ontario through:
  • Creating a monthly or bi-monthly e-newsletter for northern and Indigenous members.
  • Attending outreach/networking events to promote EFAO events, programs and membership.
  • Reaching out to new and existing partners to help expand EFAO’s promotional reach.
• Build and nurture relationships and partnerships with First Nation communities, Indigenous organizations and/or individuals in northern Ontario interested in collaborating around agricultural education and knowledge sharing.
• Assist EFAO staff with planning and hosting educational events as needed.
• Attend EFAO’s Annual Conference as well as the Earth & Sky Gathering (December 2-4th in London, Ontario)

• Must be currently living in northern Ontario.
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.
• Working knowledge, experience and appreciation of ecological agriculture and Indigenous food systems in Ontario.
• Alignment with EFAO’s anti-racism and equity goals, or related lived or work experience.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic staff team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Google documents and virtual meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom).
• General technical proficiency with online and offline software platforms and ability to learn and use new software quickly.
• Some offsite, evening and weekend work, and travel required..
