SKY HARVEST IS HIRING BIKE DELIVERY RIDERS

Position: Bike / E-bike Rider
Organization: Sky Harvest
Location: Richmond BC (approx. 7 minutes ride from Bridgeport Sky Train Station)

Based around Richmond/Vancouver, part-time position

About us

Sky Harvest is Canada’s first organic certified indoor urban vertical farm, located in Richmond, BC (approx. 7 minutes ride from Bridgeport Sky Train Station).

Our farm premises is an industrial unit and our team is a combination of part time and full-time employees. We supply Vancouver restaurants and grocery stores with a wide range of high-quality microgreens, leafy greens and edible flowers.

  • Sustainable Electricity – we use BC’s hydro electricity grid to energize our crops. We are striving to go further and take advantage of other, increasingly prevalent, forms of renewable electricity generation such as photovoltaics.

The Role and Duties

  • Assist with preparation of orders and loading up bikes
  • Deliver product on bike (or e-bike) from our farm in north Richmond to restaurant and grocery store customers.
  • Verify orders before each delivery and maintain a detailed delivery log
  • Communicate clearly with customers and food service employees and with ability to work through any issues or points of confusion
  • Communicate with farm management as regards progress of deliveries and any issues

Knowledge and skills

  • Competent and safe cyclist, year-round and in all weathers (except snow)
  • Reasonable cycling fitness. A typical delivery route is about 30km carrying up to 15kg of product+cool bags on a light-weight trailer
  • Able to follow instructions for delivery routes and navigate to multiple locations downtown
  • Have respect for pedestrians and other road users
  • Teamwork, good communication skills and good customer service
  • Exhibits reliability and commitment to our customers and our organization
  • Ideally interest in urban agriculture activities and passionate about sustainability and local food systems

Education required

  • No formal educational qualifications are required.

Important Details

  • Part-time position (8 hours weekly, could be up to 16 hours weekly)
  • Start time: Immediately/ ASAP, please don't delay in applying
  • Pay: Starting pay is $20.50/hr
  • Opportunity to move up within the company as we continue to grow & expand
  • The farm is located in Richmond BC, and is a 7 minute bike ride from Bridgeport Skytrain Station and also has excellent bus connections
