Position Summary

SCCF is seeking to hire an Atlantic Canada Chapter Manager who cares about the work we do and who is a great fit for our culture and team. SCCF is searching for an experienced and strategic individual to carry out tasks associated with managing energy and climate programs in the Atlantic Canada Chapter of this charitable organisation.

Reporting to the Executive Director), the successful candidate will provide supervision and oversee the execution of our offshore wind position, organize face to face gatherings, expand our connections with labour unions, and increase the potential for energy democracy in the Atlantic region. They will work collaboratively with SCCF staff and leadership volunteers to advance our goal of achieving 100% clean energy and upholding equity and justice for all .

Candidates must be located in Canada. The candidate will be required to work from a home office. Some travel may be required and will be compensated.

Responsibilities and Scope

The Atlantic Canada Chapter Manager will play a leadership role in:

  • Supervising energy-related staff and consultants in developing and delivering on our Offshore Wind Alliance program,
  • Supercharge our energy democracy initiatives through program development, workshops, communications; and
  • Support engagement organizing initiative (online, print, and in person outreach) in the face of threats to equitable climate solutions such as fracking and new gas plants.

Required Qualifications

  • Collaborate with partners in the Offshore Wind Alliance to guide strategic project development, support collaboration, and supervise offshore wind campaigner located in NL
  • Convene people, organizations, municipalities, and Indigenous leaders to identify needs and overcome barriers to energy democracy in communities
  • Instigate conversations with key partners, allies and funders to build capacity for energy democracy in Atlantic Canada
  • Develop and implement an awareness and education strategy about what energy democracy is, and what it looks like
  • Implement an outreach strategy and create outreach and communications materials (paper, online) tools to mobilize people in the region to fight back against fracking and oil and gas and advocate for climate solutions
  • Organize at least one face to face Many versus the Money meeting in scheduled for October 2025
  • Support volunteers on our Atlantic Canada Chapter in participating in local events and programs, in collaboration with the Atlantic Canada Chapter Executive Committee
  • Fluent in English in written and verbal communication. Ability to speak French an asset
  • Adept in Microsoft Office, MacOS, and/or Google Workspace (e.g., Word, Excel, Pages, Sheets, Docs, etc.)

Required Skills

  • At least 5 years’ experience in community organizing in Atlantic Canada, applying knowledge and passion to build grassroots power and climate solutions
  • At least 5 years’ experience with developing marketing, communications or engagement organizing
  • At least 3 years’ experience in staff and volunteer supervision and collaboration with diverse allies and partners
  • At least 3 years’ of demonstrated fundraising and project development and reporting experience in the environmental sector (both with individuals and institutional donors)
  • Ability to evaluate complex problems and explore issues with critical lens, and identify critical paths to success.
  • Passion for environmental advocacy and climate solutions
  • Knowledge of political and socio-economic context in Atlantic region
  • Background in labour organizing or familiarity with union organizing in the region an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to workplan, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks and tactics for maximum impact
  • Bilingual (able to speak and write in French and English) an asset
  • Self-directed ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritise and successfully manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to work within a team environment
