Local farms, Local food

Locally grown fresh produce – Small scale growers conscientiously growing with regenerative practices. duurzamegrowers.com

Hiring: Farm Hands & Market Staff
Farm: Duurzame Growers Farm

  • Location: 5kms south of Elora / north of Guelph, Ontario
  • Housing: Ideal candidates live within the Wellington region or are willing to relocate before the season begins. No housing is provided.

With a new season approaching, Duurzame Growers Farm is excited to welcome Farm Hands and Market staff to our small and dedicated team.

While prior farming experience is not required, it is certainly an asset.

Our work is split fairly evenly between post-harvest and field tasks. Approximately half of the time is spent harvesting, washing, and packing produce for restaurant orders and our farm store. The remaining time is dedicated to bed preparation, transplanting, trellising, and other hands-on field work. As a small, diverse farm, no two days are exactly the same—but there is a steady rhythm to each week and season.

We run a tight, well-organized operation with a very small team, so a positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility are essential to having a successful and enjoyable season.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Farming experience is not required, but is a strong asset. Experience in related fields such as landscaping, hospitality, or restaurant work is also welcome
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; our farm has many moving parts, and staying connected and receptive to honest feedback is essential
  • Excellent attention to detail, with an eye for both quality and efficiency
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation
  • Clean, organized, and reliable
  • A genuine love of plants, soil, and good food, along with curiosity and care for the living systems we work with and eat from
  • A welcoming attitude toward community, including respect for fellow team members, the family living on the land, and the wider community that supports our markets

Start & End Dates

Spring through late fall 2026. Dates are flexible for the right candidate.

If you've got farming experience (bonus points for being a leadership superstar) and a passion for food, cooking, and the great outdoors, we want to hear from you! Grab your boots and bring your community spirit – we can't wait to meet you and have some fun growing together!

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time farming experience. A passion for physical labor (shoveling, wheelbarrowing, etc.) in various weather conditions is essential, as farming demands endurance akin to that of athletes.
  • Strong teamwork and abilities: Applicants should have experience in leading and training others to foster success and confidence, while also being receptive to constructive feedback. We highly value the insights and contributions of each farmer on our team.
  • Attributes: Positivity, patience, flexibility, and kindness.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness, with a focus on both quality and efficiency.
  • A strong ethic and self-motivation.
  • A genuine love for plants, soil, and good food! A sense of wonder and care for the living entities we cultivate (and consume) is vital for the farm's success, reflecting our investment and joy in this work.
  • Community-oriented: Respecting the individuality of our farm team, the family residing on this land, and our supportive community around the farm.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Means of transportation to and from the farm. We are located in a rural setting, so bus routes do not stop out here.
  • Also we are a smoke-, vape-, and scent-free environment. We are looking for someone who respects these standards.

Position Available: We are seeking to welcome one Farm Manager to Duurzame Growers
Start Date: This position is set to begin as soon as the growing season commences in early May 2026, with an end date that is negotiable for the right candidate.
