This is a remote position available to anyone living permanently in Atlantic Canada.

Partnering with The Salal Foundation, Atlantic Action is a newly formed organization on a mission to drive a just and equitable energy transition for Atlantic Canada. Our mandate is to meet people where they are at and build on the connections between energy, affordability, economic development and other issues affecting Atlantic Canadians.

We are currently seeking a passionate and committed ATLANTIC ACTION ORGANIZER. This role requires someone with bold vision, determination and grit to help us build, manage and support a network of stakeholder relationships across Atlantic Canada and beyond. This is a great opportunity for someone who is action-oriented and purpose-driven to have an impact in ensuring Atlantic Canadians will benefit from sustainable and inclusive energy solutions.

Who you are and what you will do:

  • You love a bold vision. With a fierce imagination and deep commitment to justice in your work, you are a natural problem solver who doesn’t fear failure; you welcome the opportunity to experiment and try different approaches to further objectives.
  • Politically savvy, you understand the political and economic landscape in Atlantic Canada and across Canada as a whole.
  • Working with the Steering Committee and others, you will develop the strategy, vision, and tactical organizing plan to mobilize the right people around a shared vision and turn it into reality.
  • Low ego, high impact leadership is key; you focus on the greater good with objectivity, maintaining focus on the large, long-term objectives.
  • An influential and empathetic change agent, you are a naturally inclusive educator and influencer: building relationships and trust by providing support, training, coaching and information.
  • Capable and detail-oriented, you bring a disciplined approach to organization, setting up and maintaining an orderly and clean back office, and gathering data by tracking results - adjusting strategy and tactics as indicated.
  • A strong communicator, you develop and use a variety of inclusive communication channels to share information including political news and insights, inspirational content, success stories and lessons learned.
  • You take initiative to research and activate grant and funding opportunities across the region.
  • Strategic and flexible, you love working with community partners, designing campaign strategy and implementing campaign plans with the broad intention to reach constituencies in target communities.
  • Recognizing the social and regulatory agency required to be successful, you are mindful to ensure compliance with local regulations in multiple Atlantic Canada jurisdictions.

Your skills and experience:

  • You bring significant experience in a similar role, designing and leading labour / political / community campaigns at local, provincial, or federal levels.
  • You have experience developing and executing successful organizing strategies and tactics (e.g. canvassing, peer-to-peer texting, phone-banking, etc.).
  • You have demonstrated high integrity and good judgement.
  • Strategic and flexible, you are a team player who is comfortable working remotely with partners in geographically diverse locations across multiple time zones.
  • You must be able and willing to travel frequently, particularly across Atlantic Canada.

The salary range for this position is $70 - $85,000 per year, based on working 37 hours per week.

If you’re interested in being considered for this opportunity, please respond with your resume and include a cover letter that briefly but effectively outlines:

  • your experience, education, training and background in engaging communities and organizing campaigns in Atlantic Canada, and
  • your interest and experience in climate or economic justice and community issues.
