Climate change impacts and adaptation 

Job Title: Communications Assistant
Organization: CLIMAtlantic Inc.
Location: Virtual, within Atlantic Canada

  • Pay: $50,700 to $55,000 annually (depending on education, experience), excellent benefits plan
  • Hours: flexible, based on 37.5 hours/week
  • Type of employment: Starting as soon as possible, term until March 2026, with possibility of extension

About the position

If you are interested in climate change, communications, relationship building, and creative solution building, then this position may be for you! As Communications Assistant, you will support all of CLIMAtlantic’s communication needs such as social media, our website, newsletter, and a number of projects to develop communications materials and tools. Work is mostly remote, so being able to operate independently and grow connections virtually are important. Periodic travel throughout Atlantic Canada may be required.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of new tools and manage our existing broad portfolio of communications tools (website, newsletter, online tools, social media)
  • Support a variety of communications projects being developed with and for partners, including the supervision of project staff
  • Support communications content development, including online and print media, across a variety of channels, tools and platforms for a wide range of audiences (newsletters, social media posts, webinars, blogs, videos, etc.)
  • Source media (photos and videos) to support the creation of communication materials.

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing, or equivalent experience
  • A combination of 1 year of related work experience in journalism, communications, media relations, marketing, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of climate change impacts and adaptation is an asset
  • Excellent communications skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to use software and applications to create attractive and informative publications including webpages, presentation slides, tables, graphs, and images; familiarity and use experience of various social media tools and platforms; as well as Google Suite and Canva
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
