Position: Communications Coordinator, Part-Time
Organization: Centre for Local Prosperity
Location: Remote (based in Atlantic Canada)

  • Position Type: Independent contractor, remote (work from home), part-time (14 hours/week)
  • Rate: $28/hour

About Us:

The Centre for Local Prosperity (CLP) is a Nova Scotia-based, Atlantic Canada-focused charity dedicated to strengthening community and economic resilience through re-localization.

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis, helping us expand and enhance our outreach and engagement efforts.

Role Summary:

We’re seeking a part-time Communications Coordinator to collaborate with us to reach, connect with, and engage a wider and more diverse range of people across Atlantic Canada and beyond to spread the message about the re-localization movement and strengthen our local communities & economies!

Key Responsibilities:

*Below is an overview of responsibilities for the position, but are not expected every week.

  • Content Creation:
    • Develop and manage engaging content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and the organization’s website.
    • Maintain and update the CLP website
    • Collaborate with the Web-Developer and the Program Manager
    • Communicate with partners and collaborators to source and update website content
    • Ensure all communications align with the organization’s branding and messaging
    • Develop and distribute a regular newsletter to update and engage subscribers.
  • Social Media Management:
    • Plan, execute, and monitor social media strategies to increase visibility and community interaction.
  • Webinar Support:
    • Identify and contact potential panelists for webinars
    • Create registration forms, promotional materials for webinars
    • Upload post-webinar content to YouTube & CLP website
  • Local Prosperity Network:
    • Collaborate with the CLP team to build the Local Prosperity Network
    • Communication with members
    • Meeting coordination
    • Creation of webpages for Network
  • Event Support:
    • Provide communications support for events, including promotional materials and post-event follow-ups.
  • Analytics and Reporting:
    • Track and report on communication activities and social media engagement, suggesting improvements based on data analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in communications, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in managing websites (particularly WordPress) and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, etc.) and video editing is a plus.
