About the Role

We're hiring an Affordable Electric Homes Campaign Organizer to lead our organizing in Port Coquitlam.

Affordable Electric Homes is about something people already care about: affording to keep our homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This role is about having conversations at the door, about how participation with our city councillors can make that happen. Your goal is to build a team of neighbours who can have them too.

You will manage three paid canvassers, run deep canvassing across Port Coquitlam, and develop volunteer leaders who take on real ownership of the work. You will also prepare volunteers to meet their elected representatives and speak for themselves.

Success in this role means volunteer leaders in Port Coquitlam who can run things without you, a canvass team having genuine conversations rather than hitting quotas, and visible local political engagement on affordable electric homes.

You Will:

• Design and run turf-based deep canvassing across Port Coquitlam, including canvassing yourself every week
• Maintain, train, schedule, and coach three paid canvassers, with a focus on conversation quality over contact counts
• Recruit, train, and coach volunteer leaders, and create pathways for them to take real ownership
• Track persuasion outcomes and leadership potential in our CRM
• Prepare volunteers for meetings with elected officials, and coordinate letter and email pushes
• Build relationships with organizations, businesses, and individuals across Port Coquitlam
• Engage respectfully with Indigenous Nations and seek their strategic input
• Provide regular, metric-based updates to the BC Campaigns Manager and contribute to campaign learning
• Work with your manager to solve complex problems
• Have access to professional development in all areas connected to your position
• Make a real tangible difference in your community

You Should Apply If You Are:

• Experienced in canvassing or other forms of community outreach
• Mission-aligned and motivated by helping everyday people have a stronger voice in decisions that affect the places they love
• Experienced in community organizing and volunteer leadership (in a paid or unpaid environment)
• Experienced supervising or coaching a small team, or ready to grow into it
• A strong relationship-builder who listens well and communicates clearly
• Comfortable using data tools and CRMs to track engagement and evaluate progress
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities in fast-moving environments
• Resilient when things fall short, and focused on turning setbacks into learning
• Available to work some evenings and weekends, when people are home

Compensation and Benefits:

Neighbours United is a Living Wage Employer. This is a part-time role at 30 hours per week, and all benefits below are pro-rated to those hours. Alongside purpose-driven work in a supportive environment, we offer:

• 10 paid sick days, pro-rated
• Six weeks of paid time off, including four weeks vacation, and paid time off during our August and January office closures, pro-rated
