Position: Campaign and Communications Coordinator
Organization: Watershed Watch Salmon Society
Location: Anywhere in B.C., Lower Mainland preferred

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience, $58,000-65,000 CAD annually, plus benefits
  • Job type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week). One-year term with possibility of extension, depending on funding
  • Start Date: As soon as possible

Watershed Watch Salmon Society is hiring a Campaign and Communications Coordinator to support our work defending and restoring B.C.’s watersheds for wild salmon. This is a mid-level role and is ideal for someone who is organized, creative, and passionate about conservation.

This position will support our CodeBlue BC campaign to advance watershed security in B.C., and also assist with operational, communications and other tasks at Watershed Watch Salmon Society.


Key Responsibilities

Watershed Security Campaign Support

  • Help the CodeBlue BC team build our online community to over 100,000 members and engage them to drive action for watershed security, climate adaptation, and related policy change.
  • Support CodeBlue BC’s campaign strategy, storytelling, and digital organizing efforts.
  • Support Watershed Watch’s engagement in various water and habitat-related initiatives, including the B.C. Watershed Security Strategy and implementation of the B.C. Water Sustainability Act.
  • Create engaging campaign content, including written, visual, and video formats.
  • Post and monitor content CodeBlue BC’s social media channels and engage with the online community.
  • Support collaborations with community groups, coalition partners, and local champions.
  • Help coordinate meetings and webinars.
  • Support efforts to grow our email subscriber base.
  • Co-design a digital fundraising strategy with a focus on bringing on new monthly donors and building strong donor relationships.
  • Build and maintain a strong and comprehensive working knowledge of the issues affecting watershed health and management in B.C.

Administrative & Communications Support

  • Provide general operational support to team members across campaigns, collaborating with campaigners on special projects as required.
  • Help maintain accurate records in CRM systems and databases (e.g. Keela, NationBuilder).
  • Connect with our donors and support other stewardship activities.
  • Assist with logistics for events, outreach, and field work.
  • Help update and maintain our WordPress-based website.
  • Produce external communications for our subscribers, including our weekly Salmon News media roundup and social media content.
  • Support with fundraising, including our Year-End Appeal.
  • Other duties as assigned. Depending on the location, this role may also involve supporting in-person public outreach and fieldwork.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience in campaign organizing, communications, or nonprofit coordination (paid or volunteer).
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, Non-profit Management, Communications, Journalism), or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for storytelling and public engagement.
  • Experience using digital tools such as WordPress, Canva, NationBuilder, and Keela.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram)
  • Competence with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for communications and content development.
  • Solid time management and organizational skills, including data entry and tracking.
  • Access to a vehicle, a driver’s licence and willingness to travel within B.C.
  • Experience working with First Nations, government officials, community partners, or conservation stakeholders is an asset.

What We Offer

  • $58,000–$65,000 annual salary, based on experience.
  • 20 days of vacation to start, increasing with length of service.
  • 12 public holidays and 6 wellness days per year.
