Evergreen is seeking a Manager, Business Development to join our team.

The Evergreen Brick Works site, where our head office is located, is built on the sovereign territory and waterways of the Haudenosaunee, Wendat, and Anishinaabe Nations. These nations continue to be the original governments, continuing leaders and decision makers that govern these lands. The territory is governed by Treaty 13 signed by the Mississaugas of the Credit. Treaties remind everyone of our mutual responsibilities to these Nations and the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who call this land home.

Key Accountabilities

The Manager, Business Development, plays a critical role in the generation of revenue through Evergreen’s social enterprise activities based out of Evergreen Brick Works. Success in this role requires a keen salesperson with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to build positive long and short-term partnerships.

A day-in-the-life of this role might include:

  • Cultivating new and nurturing existing corporate and tenant relationships with a focus on revenue conversion and achieving earned revenue targets.
  • Developing and executing strategies to advertise and lease available office/work-space and co-working opportunities at Evergreen Brick Works.
  • Ensure positive tenant relationships, from lease negotiation through to the daily on-site experience, working collaboratively with members of the Facilities department to ensure tenant needs are met and exceeded.
  • Developing and executing creative outbound sales strategies for third-party events, including corporate events and team-building, and weddings.
  • Transform interest from potential opportunities into committed collaborations, managing relationships from proposal creation through to contract negotiation and agreement.
  • Creating a pricing strategy for offerings across different partnership models, including tenancies, space rentals and vendor relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with the team across the organization to drive corporate revenue generation and support the achievement of annual and long-term financial goals for reinvestment in community.
  • Staying up-to-date on Evergreen’s current product and service offerings and identifying opportunities to promote products and services to new and existing audiences.
  • Using knowledge of the market and Evergreen’s unique selling propositions and differentiators to identify and propose new business opportunities that can contribute to Evergreen’s social enterprise.
  • Supporting and mentoring staff in a thoughtful and professional manner, taking an active role in their professional development.
  • Contributing to excellent cross-departmental collaboration, helping to ensure a positive experience for all on site.

What You’ll Bring

Success in this role will be supported by the following target qualifications and core competencies:

  • 5+ years’ experience in business development, leasing, or partnership management, ideally in a nonprofit, social enterprise, or mixed-use property setting.
  • Proven success in revenue generation, contract negotiation, and client relationship management resulting in long-term partnerships.
  • Knowledge of commercial leasing and tenant relations best practices.
  • Strong understanding of the earned revenue model and its role in advancing charitable missions.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to align client needs with organizational values and offerings.
  • Skilled communicator and negotiator with excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience leading or mentoring staff and fostering positive, collaborative work environments.

You might have the following assets:

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and Caterease.
  • Working knowledge of Angus Anywhere Work Order system.

  • This is a full-time, salaried role.
  • The target hire rate for this role is $75,000 - $82,000.
  • The paid vacation allocation for this role is 15 days.
  • This role is supervised by Director, Events & Public Programming, and has at least three direct reports.
  • While Evergreen is a hybrid organization, regular presence on site at Evergreen Brick Works will be required for success in this role, and the preference is for a Toronto-based candidate.
  • The successful applicant should expect to be on site at Evergreen Brick Works daily, with some evening and weekend work a possibility.
  • Work environment is a collaborative office space (open concept).
