Position: Summer Camp Boat Driver/ Grounds Keeper
Summer Camp: Camp Tanamakoon

Location: Algonquin Park, Ontario
Housing: Room and Board available
Dates: June through August, 2026

Position Overview
The Camp Boat Driver / Grounds Keeper supports the safe and efficient daily operations of camp. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead, this role includes operating camp motorboats, transporting people and supplies, and assisting with a range of maintenance and labour tasks across the camp property. The position requires strong attention to safety, reliability, and consistent communication with the Maintenance Lead and other staff.


Key Responsibilities

Boat Operations

  • Operate camp motorboats and barges in accordance with provincial regulations and camp safety procedures.
  • Transport campers, staff, visitors, equipment, and supplies across the lake as scheduled or required.
  • Conduct routine inspections, including checking fuel levels, safety equipment, and general boat condition.
  • Keep all boats and docks clean, organized, and operational.
  • Report mechanical concerns to the Maintenance Lead and assist with minor repairs when appropriate.

Maintenance & Labour Support

  • Assist the Maintenance Lead with daily maintenance tasks, including groundskeeping, painting and basic facility up-keep.
  • Transport equipment, supplies, luggage, and materials around the camp property using camp vehicles- Tractor and Golf carts.
  • Transport Food Orders up to 3 times a week
  • Keep grounds clean- lawn maintenance, trail maintenance
  • Participate in seasonal opening and closing tasks such as setting docks, storing equipment, landscaping and general site preparation.
  • Support setup and takedown of program areas and special events as needed.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Lead to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Respond to urgent needs or operational requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain clear communication with other staff to support smooth camp operations.
  • Follow all camp policies, safety guidelines, and supervisory instructions

Qualifications

  • Valid Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card (PCOC) required.
  • Experience driving a tractor an asset
  • Experience operating motorboats safely and responsibly.
  • Familiarity with boating safety procedures and basic mechanical systems.
  • Ability to perform physical labour, lift and carry heavy items, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • WHMIS & OHSA Training (can be completed prior to arrival at camp)
  • Criminal Reference Check
  • Standard First Aid Certification preferred (can be completed prior to arrival at camp)

  • Reliable, responsible, and safety-focused.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks and learn new skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to live in a summer camp setting in Algonquin Park

Contract Details

  • Seasonal position – June through August
  • Full-time hours
  • Room and Board available
