Hiring: Grade School Teacher

PURPOSE/SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Class Teachers are active members of the Faculty and are responsible for holding their class each year. Class teachers agree to teach the grade for which they are hired, according to the teaching schedule and in alignment with the philosophy, purpose, and curriculum of Waldorf education. Attendance at school events and festivals, as well as participation in occasional evening and weekend events and meetings, is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate each child’s academic, emotional, and social progress and report regularly to parents through written reports and interviews
• Participate fully in pedagogical, child, and curriculum study as part of the Faculty
• Lead regular parent evenings and maintain strong parent communication
• Fulfill a designated number of administrative, supervisory, and school duties in addition to teaching responsibilities
• Attend faculty meetings and support open houses and community events
• Supervise recess and/or lunch duties as assigned

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Waldorf Teacher Education certification preferred
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and two years teaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Specialization and/or experience teaching in middle school and upper grades is preferred and considered a strong asset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a community environment
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR–First Aid certification

This posting is for a Grade School Teacher. The successful candidate will be assigned a specific grade based on Faculty determination and best fit.

Trillium Waldorf School is in its 31st year of operation and currently serves approximately 165 students from Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Located on a 3-acre site in Guelph, Ontario, the school benefits from access to Guelph Lake, and surrounding conservation areas. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary is determined based on years of experience and placement on the school’s salary grid and ranges from $48,000 – $59,000. Benefits include life and accident insurance, extended health and dental coverage, and tuition remission for eligible dependents. Compensation and employment conditions are administered in accordance with applicable Ontario employment standards legislation.
