A little about us

Ferme des Petites Victoires is an agroecological vegetable and cut-flower farm, located in Luskville QC. We have now been in production for 7 years, with part of that time spent on rented land. We grow about 30 different types of vegetables for CSA baskets, farmers markets, and a farm store. We also grow a large variety of flowers and foliage that we sell primarily to florists through the Ottawa Flower Collective.

We are certified organic and focus on building soil health to grow high-quality, nutritious, and really delicious veggies. We use minimal tillage techniques to manage our permanent raised bed system. We love finding creative solutions to the many obstacles that farming throws our way, and we are always learning. It is super important to us that we respect our bodies and our health during the long growing season, and so we try to consider how a job can be more ergonomic, efficient and enjoyable.

Being young and first-generation farmers ourselves, and having previously worked for other organic farmers, we understand what it is like to enter into the world of organic farming. That is why we structure the position so that you will gain exposure to all areas of the farm. If there are certain areas of interest to you, the position can also allow for some flexibility in terms of what you may want to take on and learn more about.

Responsibilities

  • Working mainly in the vegetable production with some support in the flower production
  • Bed preparation including spreading compost and amendments, broadforking, etc
  • Setting up irrigation equipment and watering seedlings
  • Greenhouse work, including pruning, trellising, fertilizing
  • Seeding and transplanting in the field and greenhouses
  • Weeding with hand tools, and by hand as needed
  • Harvesting and assisting with organizing and tracking harvests
  • Assisting with washing vegetables and packing
  • Contributing to keeping the farm tidy and organized (putting tools away, cleaning workspaces, etc.)
  • Keeping a close eye on potential problems that may occur and taking initiative to solve or alert the problem to the rest of the crew.
  • In addition to your farming work, each staff will be required to take on a sales shift during the week, either a CSA delivery, farmers’ market, or working in farm store.

We are looking for folks who:

  • Like to be outside! You will get dirty, and work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Are willing able to perform tasks that are fast-paced, and physically and mentally demanding
  • Are able to kneel, bend, lift, and do repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
  • Are willing to learn a lot of new things and be given feedback on a regular basis (farming is high-skilled work, and you won’t be great at everything right away)
  • Pay attention to details and like to be organized
  • Can complete tasks reliably and independently
  • Are comfortable meeting new people and getting to know customers at markets and CSA deliveries
  • Are curious and motivated to learn new skills
  • Have access to a reliable vehicle to get to and from the farm (no housing is available)

Assets

  • Bilingual (the farm operates mostly in English, but we have many French speaking customers)
  • Has skills in construction, carpentry, or other trades
  • Has some volunteer or paid experience farming

Other details

  • We do not offer housing/accommodation on the farm
  • We offer two paid sick days
  • You are responsible for bringing your own lunch each day you work. Lunch hour (typically starting at 12 pm) is not included in your paid hours of work
  • You are welcome to take home veggies every week, the equivalent of a CSA basket as well as any seconds for preserving

Mentorship/Support

Staff will work directly under the supervision of the farmers and co-owners Alix & Doug. We want you to come away with a good experience, whether you choose to continue farming or not. We are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, transparent, inclusive and fun work environment.

Equity Statement

We welcome and encourage Black, Indigenous, POC, folks from the LGBTQ2A+ community, women, and others that have historically faced systemic barriers in agriculture to apply and work with us.

Working on a farm can present many challenges, especially in the face of climate change. It's hard work but also incredibly important and rewarding work. If you are interested in joining us on our 2026 adventure, we want to hear from you!
