OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance & Administration Manager will be responsible for all aspects of accounting including posting financial activity and journal entries, performing accounts payable and payroll activities and associated tax remittances. Work with constituency associations and candidates tcomplete transactions and ensure accuracy of all reporting to management and Elections Ontario.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Finance & Administration Manager, your primary role will include:

Financial Accounting

  • Manage the day-to-day bank requirements (i.e. fraud prevention, cash flow management)
  • Ensure donations and expenses are recorded accurately in Quickbooks Online while meeting deadlines
  • Make all payments to vendors, employee expenses, agencies and campaigns
  • Maintain financial systems and manage month end close
  • Generate and review monthly internal reports and annual financial statements
  • Ensure bank reconciliations are up to date and adjustments made as needed
  • Support budget and forecast processes
  • Recommend and implement accounting and financial reporting process improvements

Payroll & Remittances

  • Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately for salaried, hourly and contract employees
  • Ensure payroll compliance with government laws and standards
  • Prepare and submit payroll taxes, year-end filings and other required documents
  • Ensure proper documentation of employee information and process changes efficiently

Election Reporting

  • Prepare financial documentation required for elections, by-elections and annual reporting
  • Work with the auditor to approve Elections Ontario submissions

Other:

  • Encourage best practices to improve efficiency of processes
  • Support major riding activities as needed
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external contacts

What you will bring:

  • University Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, working towards a CPA designation
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience involving internal and external reporting
  • Knowledge of business administration processes and practices, including financial planning /budgeting
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations
  • Strong financial background with proficiency in Excel including pivot tables
  • Ability to self-manage, work with a team, multi-task and prioritize
  • Experience with Quickbooks and customer databases
  • Critical and analytical thinking
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Vacation: 3 weeks’ vacation
Benefits: 10 sick days, health benefits plan all available after probation ends.
