Volunteer Position

Position: Environmental Communications and Outreach Assistant
Organization: Everett Crowley Park Committee
Location: Ideally lives in or near the Champlain Heights neighbourhood in Vancouver, but all passionate individuals are welcome!
Part-time: 5-10+ hours a week (flexible hours with some weekend and evening commitments)

Are you passionate about nature and community? Do you want to meet new people and learn new skills? Then join us in supporting Everett Crowley Park’s urban wilderness! Gain experience in environmental communications and community engagement by volunteering with the Everett Crowley Park Committee (ECPC).

About the Everett Crowley Park Committee:

The ECPC is a group dedicated to stewardship, ecological restoration, and nature education within Everett Crowley Park, a vital urban wilderness in southeast Vancouver. In just the past year, ECPC has engaged hundreds of participants through dozens of community events, including stewardship activities, nature education, eco-art workshops, and environmental festivals, fostering community connection and ecological healing.

About the Position:

We are seeking a regular, committed volunteer with strong writing and organizational skills. Working closely with the Outreach Manager, you will receive close guidance to support a range of tasks for the ECPC’s Outreach Program. Please note that this position does not include delivering presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Support ECPC’s mission to empower local residents in stewardship and ecological education, fostering resilient ecosystems and a connected community
  • Research organizations surrounding the Park and individual community members to host/attend presentations
  • Draft compelling, nature-centered communications to promote presentations and support the development of relationships with participants
  • Collaboratively develop presentation materials, including sourcing images, video, and stories
  • Coordinate logistics for presentations and VIP tours, including scheduling and tracking follow-up communications
  • Attend presentations to provide logistical support

The Ideal Volunteer

  • Has a passion for nature and is familiar with ecology through education, employment, or personal interest
  • Loves getting into the details of projects and enjoys seeing them completed
  • Is an accurate and compelling writer
  • Has strong research skills
  • Is organized and reliable
  • Can commit to at least 3 months and ideally 6 months
