Role: Social Media & Communications Volunteer

Through engaging school presentations and hands-on activities, we educate students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 about the critical role pollinators play in our ecosystems. By fostering awareness and stewardship, we empower children to take meaningful action toward a more sustainable future.

Overview

We’re seeking a dedicated Social Media and Communications Volunteer to help us share our story and grow our community online. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating content, engaging with audiences, and wants to contribute to environmental education and awareness. You’ll help manage our social media presence, creating engaging posts and highlighting the impact of our programs.

Commitment

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/ week

Term: 3, 6, or 12 months

Responsibilities

As a Volunteer Social Media & Communications Assistant, you will support our team by:

  • Create and plan social media posts
  • Keep an eye on our social media channels, reply to or engage with followers, and share content.
  • Make and edit simple videos, graphics for posts and promotions
  • Suggest fun ideas or new ways to connect with people online

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong written communication and storytelling skills
  • Is familiar with social media platforms and trends
  • Can create or edit basic visual content (e.g. Canva, image/video editing tools)
  • Is organized, reliable and able to work independently
  • Has access to a computer and reliable internet

Nice to Have (but not required)

  • Experience with social media management or digital marketing
  • Photography, video editing, or graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of pollinators, environmental issues, or non-profit communication

Responsibilities

As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will support our team by:

  • Researching potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations and government sources.
  • Preparing and drafting grant applications and proposals
  • Assisting in tracking deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
  • Helping compile outcomes and impact data for reports as needed

Requirments

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent written and communication skills
  • Is comfortable using Google Workspace
  • Has strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Is eager to learn and open to feedback
  • Has access to a computer and reliable internet

Nice to Have (but not required)

  • Previous grant writing, fundraising, or research experience
  • Knowledge of the non-profit and environmental-related causes
