Fundraisers – Volunteer

Role: Experienced Fundraising Volunteer
Organization: Biosphere Eco-cities Canada (BECC)
Location: Qualified candidates living anywhere in Canada can apply. This position is virtual, allowing volunteers to work and collaborate remotely.

Are you passionate about using your skills to help make Canadian cities more sustainable? Would you like to join a team with a clear focus and ambitious goals?

Then reach out to the Fundraising Team of Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada to join!

Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is a national non-profit championing urban sustainability through grassroots collaboration and community action. We operate mostly online, with projects in cities across Canada including Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. The Fundraising Team is currently divided into Grants Research, Core Support, Partnerships, and Writing sub-teams. The group normally meets monthly online and sub-teams commonly meet separately (while strongly linking up to the BECC Project Development Team).

BECC is currently seeking a minimum of two new volunteers for its six-person fundraising team. The current strategic focus of the group is to cover operational costs and to obtain funding for a youth climate action project to take place in the five Canadian Cities listed above. Volunteers are expected to dedicate 3-5 hours per week, including team meetings. This time is flexible around other personal commitments.

What a fundraising volunteer will do for our organizational goals:

  • Develop and implement creative fundraising initiatives.
  • Identify and cultivate donor and funding relationships.
  • Build real impact through sustainability-focused projects.
  • Gain valuable non-profit and remote experience.

The following skills would be great assests to our team:

  • 2+ years in fundraising, grant writing, or revenue generation.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic about sustainability and community-based projects.
  • Comfortable working independently in a virtual environment.
