Garden: Climate Smart Victory Garden
Location: Sharon, East Gwillimbury, near Newmarket, Ontario

We’re looking for volunteers to join our educational garden for the 2026 season—whether you're brand new, experienced, or want to help us share our story online.

Volunteer Opportunities:
 


1. Garden Volunteers (New & Experienced Welcome)

No experience needed — we’ll teach you!

You will:

  • Learn (or deepen) skills in growing your own food
  • Help maintain the garden (planting, watering, harvesting)
  • Support workshops and community events
  • Be part of a supportive, collaborative team

Experienced gardeners can also:

  • Mentor and support new gardeners
  • Take on informal leadership roles within the team

2. Social Media Volunteer

Help us grow our reach and document the season.

You will:

  • Capture photos/videos throughout the season
  • Create and schedule social media content
  • Help tell the story of our garden and community impact

Commitment

  • ~5 hours/week in garden (May–October 2026)
  • Weekly virtual team check-ins (~15 mins)

What We’re Looking For

  • Team players with a positive attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable and willing to take initiative
  • Able to perform light physical work (~30 lbs, basic tools)
  • Gardening knowledge is an asset (but not required)

Who Should Apply?

  • Learning to grow food sustainably
  • Supporting local climate action
  • Gaining hands-on experience in a community setting
