Volunteer Role: HR Manager
Organization: Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective (CCPC)
Location: Remote (Canada-wide)

The CCPC is a nonprofit collective of photographers and storytellers working to promote conservation and science education through compelling visual content. Founded in 2021, we unite diverse skills and backgrounds to shed light on pressing environmental issues and inspire action for the natural world.

Role Overview

The HR Manager will oversee volunteer recruitment and engagement processes, ensuring a positive and professional experience for all CCPC volunteers. This role includes posting new volunteer opportunities, interviewing prospective candidates, onboarding new team members, documenting HR processes, and managing volunteer accounts when individuals leave the organization. The HR Manager plays a key role in supporting CCPC’s growth and maintaining alignment with our mission and values.


Responsibilities

  • Draft and post volunteer recruitment roles across platforms such as LinkedIn, volunteer boards, and CCPC channels.
  • Screen applications and interview prospective candidates, ensuring alignment with CCPC’s mission and team needs.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new volunteers, including orientation, account setup, and integration into workflows.
  • Maintain and update volunteer records, ensuring compliance with CCPC’s policies.
  • Document HR and volunteer management processes to support consistency and smooth transitions.
  • Deactivate or remove accounts of volunteers who step down, withdraw, or do not meet membership requirements.
  • Support volunteer engagement by maintaining clear communication, fostering a positive experience, and addressing concerns.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Collective Council to ensure HR practices align with organizational goals and values.

Qualifications

  • Related education and professional experience in human resources or volunteer management is required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Comfort with remote collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Asana, etc.).
  • Experience drafting policies, documenting processes, or standardizing workflows is an asset.
  • Commitment to CCPC’s mission of promoting conservation through visual storytelling.
  • Previous nonprofit or volunteer management experience is an advantage.
