Position: Human Resources Manager
Type: volunteer position
Organization: The Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective
Location: remote, anywhere in Canada

The Canadian Conservation Photography Collective (CCPC) was formed in 2021 with the objective of promoting conservation and science education through the production of strong, thought-provoking visual content.

The collective is composed of freelance photographers from across the country and from a wide variety of occupational training backgrounds including biology, education, journalism, social work and business. We believe that working together—combining our strengths, experience, and networks—greatly enhances our ability to shed light on pressing conservation issues and reach, inform, and engage a broader audience.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in supporting the CCPC’s people and organizational growth by developing and maintaining people-focused practices aligned with the collective’s mission and values. This role supports a diverse, Canada-wide community of volunteers and helps nurture an inclusive, respectful, and creative working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Strategy & Leadership

  • Co-create and maintain people-focused procedures and best practices that reflect the CCPC’s ways of working
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to support organizational development, volunteer capacity planning, and the identification of people-related risks
  • Help foster a healthy, inclusive organizational culture grounded in respect, care, and collaboration

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate equitable and accessible recruitment and onboarding processes for volunteers
  • Design welcoming onboarding experiences that help new volunteers feel supported and set up for success
  • Act as a trusted and approachable resource for volunteers with people-related questions, concerns, or needs
  • Contribute to ethical, transparent, and respectful people practices consistent with the CCPC’s conservation mission

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a nonprofit, arts, environmental, or values-driven organization
  • Experience working with remote volunteer teams, an asset

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and empathy
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a volunteer collective
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and care
  • Passion for conservation, visual storytelling, and social impact
