Position: Graphic Artist

The Canadian Conservation Photography Collective (CCPC) was formed in 2021 with the objective of promoting conservation and science education through the production of strong, thought-provoking visual content.

The collective is composed of freelance photographers from across the country and from a wide variety of occupational training backgrounds including biology, education, journalism, social work and business. We believe that working together—combining our strengths, experience, and networks—greatly enhances our ability to shed light on pressing conservation issues and reach, inform, and engage a broader audience.

Position Summary

The Graphic Artist for the CCPC plays a crucial role in creating visual assets and maintaining consistent, recognizable branding across the organization. This role supports the CCPC’s conservation mission by translating stories, values, and campaigns into engaging visual materials that resonate with diverse audiences and strengthen the collective’s public presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating engaging graphic art for sustainable merchandise
  • Developing digital graphics for use on social media platforms, promotional materials, and our website
  • Utilizing design software tools like Creative Suite (Art, Reports & Campaign Documents) and Canva (social graphics)
  • Developing and maintaining visual brand identity that reflects the organization - including the review and maintenance of consistent use of logos, color schemes, typography, and other brand assets
  • Supporting in the creation of essential templates, including letterhead, presentation templates, and campaign assets that can be easily updated for a consistent look

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in graphic design, ideally within a nonprofit, arts, environmental, or values-driven organization
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams or volunteer contributors is an asset

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong visual design skills, with a clear grasp of layout, typography, colour, and brand consistency
  • Proficiency in common design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar)
  • Ability to translate conservation stories and values into clear, engaging visual assets
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable collaborating with remote, volunteer-based teams and responding to feedback
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and genuinely aligned with conservation and nonprofit values
