Position: Social Media Lead

Through a combination of climate literacy and political advocacy, we empower our community to push for bold climate policies and take proactive steps toward change. ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Media Lead to increase climate literacy and make climate information accessible and engaging to all community members. The ideal candidate will constantly strive to improve communication materials, ensuring that they are credible, creative, and engaging. This role also involves leading creative strategies to promote campaigns and working closely with a team to develop social media posts. The position offers hands-on experience in program management, community organizing, event planning, and volunteer engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a team of social media content creators to ensure timely content generation.
Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the Council’s messaging, brand awareness, and engagement.
Report updates to the Executive Director and Managing Director.
Offer new strategies to improve brand awareness, increase reach, and engagement.
Oversee content on all social media platforms and the website, ensuring alignment with the Council’s brand and messaging.
Maintain and enhance the Council’s branding kit for consistency across all communication materials.
Develop creative and engaging content for campaigns, presentations, and media outreach.
Create and manage the monthly social media content calendar in collaboration with the communications team.
Lead weekly meetings with the communications team to assess progress, discuss strategies, and brainstorm new ideas.
Provide guidance and support to improve team skills and ensure the creation of high-quality communication materials.
Ensure all communications are fact-checked, credible, and reflect the Council’s commitment to accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in leading teams, and providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Strong design skills and attention to detail.
Solid understanding of strong verbal and visual communication skills.
Experience in marketing, advertising, and anticipating social media trends.
Strong organizational and managerial skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Meta advertising, ad split testing would be an asset
Knowledge of local climate issues and the broader climate action movement is an asset.
Familiarity with nonprofit operations, including branding, strategic planning, and media relations.
Self-motivated, reliable, and deadline-driven.
Creative, with the ability to think outside the box and innovate within the Council's mission.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with diverse teams.
Passionate about climate action and committed to making a tangible impact.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
BENEFITS OF THE OPPORTUNITY:

TIME COMMITMENT:
This is a part-time position requiring 7 - 10 hour(s) per week, with a flexible work schedule.
Compensation is $1000/year. The position lasts for 12 months, with the potential for extension based on grant funding.
