About Us

The Climate Literacy Initiative is a Toronto-based nonprofit dedicated to raising climate literacy and inspiring action in schools and communities. We deliver interactive, science-based workshops that help participants understand the connections between human activities and climate change, while empowering them to take meaningful steps toward solutions.

Role Overview

Our Ontario-based nonprofit is seeking a Fundraising Volunteer to strengthen our grant-seeking efforts and secure funding for climate education initiatives in schools. This role is ideal for someone with strong writing, research, and organizational skills who wants to make a direct impact on climate education in schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify grant opportunities across government levels.
  • Prepare, draft, and edit grant proposals and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with the Chair and leadership team to align proposals with organizational priorities.
  • Track application deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and research skills.
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s nonprofit and funding landscape is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising is a strong asset.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help keep our amazing team organized. Our programs depend on volunteers. By making sure they feel welcomed, supported, and set up for success, you’ll play a key role in bringing climate education to more students and schools across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and update volunteer role descriptions
  • Welcome and onboard new volunteers
  • Ensure paperwork and Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSCs) are completed and up to date
  • Support communication between volunteers and our leadership team
  • Keep our volunteer pipeline running smoothly

Qualifications

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Friendly and great with people
  • Comfortable with admin tasks (experience in HR/volunteer management is a bonus!)

We’re looking for a creative Social Media Volunteer to help define our online voice and grow our presence on LinkedIn and Instagram. You’ll turn stories, photos, and updates from our programs into engaging posts that inspire partners, participants, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule engaging posts for LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Work with the Chair, Volunteer Coordinator, and others to gather stories and photos.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and style.
  • Respond to comments and messages in a warm, professional way.
  • Track basic analytics to learn what works and suggest improvements.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with both LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills; basic visual design skills (e.g., Canva) an asset.
  • Organized, reliable, and collaborative.
  • Passion for climate action or education is a plus.
