About the Program: Why CARE?

Climate Action, Resilience, and Emotions (CARE) is a two-part, in-class workshop designed for youth aged 10-18 in the Kelowna and Kamloops regions to explore their emotions related to climate change, learn resilience-building strategies, connect with local community environmental initiatives, and become empowered to take positive local action.

CARE workshops are run in a by-youth, for-youth model. Volunteer facilitators (aged 18-30) receive training to facilitate CARE programming in classrooms in their local Kelowna or Kamloops region throughout the school year. Beyond developing public speaking skills, facilitators will be part of a warm, fun and supportive community, are bound to meet like-minded folks, and will learn a lot! Facilitating these workshops offers the opportunity to guide and mentor younger folks as they navigate their role in the climate crisis.

About the Position

We are hiring two teams of volunteer workshop facilitators: one in Kamloops, and one in Kelowna. Applicants must be located in either Kelowna or Kamloops, and able to travel to local schools to deliver in-person workshops.

We encourage anyone ages 18-30 who is interested in climate justice and youth empowerment to apply to join our volunteer facilitation team!

This is a volunteer commitment that runs from December 2025 to May 2026, with the possibility of continuing through the summer and into the fall. We anticipate an average commitment of 8-10 total hours, including preparation for workshops, workshop delivery, and travel time.

All successful applicants will be trained in social-emotional resilience techniques, classroom management, delivering CARE content, and will be supported by ongoing check-in meetings with CARE staff as needed.

Volunteer facilitators will receive a $50 honorarium for completing facilitator training, and an additional $50 for each 2-part workshop facilitated.
