Type: board of directors / volunteer
Organization: FLAP Canada
Location: anywhere in GTA with bi-monthly meetings in Toronto, Ontario
Established in 1993, the Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP Canada) is a non-profit organization (charity) dedicated to the reduction of light pollution and bird conservation in the urban environment. Located in downtown Toronto, FLAP accomplishes this through bird rescue and rehabilitation, education and advocacy.
FLAP has a need for a volunteer Treasurer. Ideally, you have a professional accounting background (CA, CGA, or CMA) and have worked within a non-profit environment in a finance or governance capacity. Working with a staff of three and a part-time Bookkeeper, you will oversee full and accurate financial record-keeping for the organization. As a member of the FLAP Board of Directors and Finance and Audit Committee, you will guide and build FLAP policies and will supervise the annual audit. You have experience using MS Excel and experience in QuickBooks would be a bonus.
We seek someone who is willing to join FLAP in a voluntary capacity for at least two years, contributing approximately 8 hours per month. And don't worry: you will have staff and volunteer resources to guide you throughout.
Are you interested in joining a small dynamic team and FLAPping for a good cause? If so, please submit a cover letter and resume, in confidence, by December 15, 2017 to:
