Position: Project Coordinator – Community Solar Program (Hybrid)

Position Overview

As Community Solar Coordinator, you will help advance community-owned and community-benefiting solar projects across Nova Scotia, making clean energy more accessible to communities across the province. In this role, you will support the delivery of both the Nova Scotia Department of Energy's Community Solar Program and Net Zero Atlantic's Community Solar Capital Funding Program. Working closely with government, community organizations, project proponents, and industry partners, you will contribute to Nova Scotia's climate and clean energy goals while helping turn renewable energy projects from ideas into reality. Net Zero Atlantic is an independent, non-profit, energy-research organization dedicated to advancing Atlantic Canada’s transition to a net-zero energy future.

We are a hybrid organization, headquartered in Halifax with staff in five locations across Canada. We lead applied research that turns complex questions into practical insight, working collaboratively with universities, governments, industry, Indigenous partners, and community organizations. About the Opportunity

This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with an anticipated duration of 12 to 19 months, subject to program funding. The role operates in a hybrid work environment with a mix of remote and in-office days and will report to the Manager of the Community Solar Program.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate community solar program applications, funding agreements, and related program administration activities.
• Support project monitoring, reporting, risk identification, and stakeholder communications.
• Maintain project schedules, budgets, records, and program documentation.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, webinars, stakeholder engagement activities, and site visits.
• Prepare reports, briefing materials, presentations, and program updates.
• Support research and analysis related to renewable energy and community solar development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of program processes, resources, templates, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to support successful program delivery.

Your Qualifications Include:

• Post-secondary education in business, administration, project management, environmental studies, engineering, science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of coordination, administration, project support, or related experience.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines, including maintaining project plans, trackers, records, and related documentation.
• Experience supporting contribution agreements, grants, funding agreements, budgets, financial administration, or other program-related processes.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with project, financial, administrative, and confidential information.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with others.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred qualifications include:

The following would be considered an asset but are not required:

• Knowledge of renewable energy, community solar, electricity systems, or Atlantic Canadian energy and climate initiatives.
• Experience working with government, Indigenous partners, community organizations, funding recipients, or other external stakeholders.
• Experience supporting projects or programs within the energy, environmental, non-profit, or public sectors.
