Become a Facilitator with Break The Divide's Prairie Climate Education & Resilience Program (PCERP) this Fall!

Across the Prairies, young people are experiencing wildfires, drought, extreme weather, and other realities of climate change alongside climate anxiety, grief, uncertainty, isolation, frustration, and overwhelm.
Yet students rarely have structured opportunities in school to explore what these experiences mean
for them, their communities, and their futures.

PCERP is a free, two-session classroom program for Grades 7–12 that helps students:

• understand climate change in the context of their own communities;
• navigate climate-related emotions;
• build connection, belonging, and resilience; and
• explore meaningful pathways to climate and community action.

What would you do as a facilitator?

Facilitators ages 18–30 across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba receive training, curriculum, and ongoing support from Break The Divide before helping deliver the program with participating classrooms.

You would help facilitate:

Session 1: Climate Education & Community Context
Students explore climate change, local environmental impacts, connection to place, and community resilience.

Session 2: Climate Emotions & Action
Students explore climate emotions, connection, resilience, agency, and meaningful pathways to action.

What will you gain?

As a PCERP facilitator, you will:

• build skills in facilitation, climate education, and climate-emotions dialogue;
• gain experience working directly with Grade 7–12 students;
• connect with other young leaders across the Prairies;
• receive a $150 honorarium for completing the program;
• contribute to supportive, youth-centred climate conversations in your community.
