About the Role
Enersion Inc. is seeking a highly skilled R&D Fabrication Designer to support the development, prototyping, and deployment of advanced mechanical systems. This role sits at the intersection of design, fabrication, and applied material science, with a particular emphasis on integrating nano-porous materials into functional mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the feasibility, design, and performance of mechanical systems and components
- Develop, prepare, and interpret CAD models, technical drawings, and engineering specifications
- Support all stages of fabrication, from concept to assembly and testing
- Prepare cost estimates, material requirements, project schedules, and technical reports
- Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for system assemblies
- Produce engineering documentation including drawings, PFDs, and P&IDs for production teams
- Inspect installation and commissioning of mechanical systems to ensure design compliance
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot mechanical failures and maintenance issues
- Source materials and components, obtain supplier quotations, and prepare purchase requests
- Participate in prototype assembly and testing alongside engineering and fabrication teams
- Contribute to deployment and implementation of projects in operational environments
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and special R&D projects as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience applying nano-porous materials in mechanical system design and development
- Minimum 3 years of experience in thermo-fluid mechanics withing nanotechnology-based systems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mass production environments (e.g., automotive or similar high-volume manufacturing industries)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with fabrication processes, prototyping, and mechanical assembly
- Minimum 3 years of experience and solid understanding of material properties, especially advanced or engineered materials
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Minimum 3 years of experience in troubleshooting mechanical systems in a production or R&D environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in energy systems, HVAC, or thermodynamic applications
- Familiarity with integrating novel materials into scalable production designs
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams
Working Conditions
- Combination of office-based design work and hands-on fabrication/shop floor involvement
- Occasional collaboration with cross-functional teams including production and R&D
