About Us

Goldfin Consulting helps organizations move from ad hoc energy projects to a strategic, integrated approach to energy management, building the capability people need to take the right actions every day to address the climate crisis. By combining Strategic Energy Management with intentional workforce development and adult learning principles, Goldfin helps organizations build the skills, systems and culture needed to embed energy performance into everyday business practices. The result is proactive energy management, reduced waste and sustained performance improvements that deliver long-term value.

Role Summary

We are looking for an Energy Management Coach to lead a portfolio of Commercial and Institutional participants through our Strategic Energy Management (SEM) programs.

Our Coaches bring Energy Management to life through structured, relationship-based support that helps clients translate knowledge into measurable action. Coaches provide support through one-on-one coaching, facilitating group learning sessions, and in-person activities.

By tracking progress and supporting accountability within the SEM framework, coaches help clients – individuals and their teams – strengthen their capability to identify and implement energy savings opportunities, build technical confidence, and influence people and behaviours within their organizations. In this role, you are part of driving meaningful change in large Canadian organizations, by building internal capacity, developing workforce skills, and accelerating progress toward energy and sustainability goals.

Successful Coaches are resilient, self-aware, organized, and team-oriented, balancing technical credibility with curiosity and a mindset for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver SEM curriculum through individual coaching and group workshops.
  • Build strong participant relationships and support achievement of targeted outcomes and milestones.
  • Track participant progress and contribute to program energy savings targets.
  • Apply knowledge of energy conservation measures, mechanical systems, building science, and energy performance tracking.
  • Adapt coaching techniques to participant readiness and needs while maintaining appropriate scope (coach, not consultant).
  • Own assigned cohort(s), manage workload effectively, and maintain strong documentation practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of program materials, SOPs, and delivery practices.
  • Collaborate positively with the coaching team and model a people-first approach.

Your Experience

  • Five to ten years of professional experience, ideally in energy management in a commercial setting (i.e. buildings), or other relevant fields, such as:
    • Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management
    • Building science
    • Environmental and resource management
    • Sustainability
    • Change management
    • Management systems
  • Competency with building energy using equipment and processes.
  • Demonstrated strong consulting or coaching experience – excellent listener and ability to analyze a conversation and respond flexibly and insightfully.
  • Master problem-solver. You dig to get at the root cause, and you empower people to find solutions they can execute.
  • Post secondary education in engineering, environmental science or related field and technical qualifications such as Certified Energy Manager.
  • Project management skills including the ability to lead projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to conduct data analysis.
  • Can work quickly to review and edit professional documents.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Valid Class G driver's license.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of organizational performance – change management, organizational development.
  • P.Eng., CEM, CMVP or other relevant certifications.
  • Professional Coaching certificate/ qualifications
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement – e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, ISO Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of the ISO 50001, Energy Management Systems Standard or other ISO Standards.
  • Knowledge of federal (Canadian) and provincial (Ontario) energy conservation programs and incentives.
  • Experience with energy monitoring, instrumentation, and controls and energy efficiency technologies.

Location

We are currently looking for Energy Management Coaches to support our work in Ontario and British Columbia. A remote position anywhere in either province is possible, however proximity to a major business area is preferred.

Candidates that live in or near Toronto may join our hybrid operating model - we are currently in office once a week, on Mondays, at 259 Danforth Ave.
