Watershed Technologies Inc. is a building automation and energy analytics firm serving multi-residential and institutional buildings across the Greater Toronto Area. We are hiring a BAS Installation Technician to carry out the field installation of building automation systems — mounting and wiring controllers, panels and field devices, and turning drawings into working installed systems ready for commissioning.

This is a hands-on installation role. Programming, graphics development and sequence commissioning are handled by our controls and commissioning team.

What you'll do

  • Install and mount building automation system (BAS) controllers, control panels, enclosures, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers and relays at client sites in accordance with drawings and specifications
  • Pull, route, label and terminate low-voltage control wiring and communication cabling between controllers, field devices and control panels
  • Lay out and install control panel backboards, device mounting hardware, raceway and cable management for BAS field equipment
  • Install and terminate field devices including temperature, pressure, flow, humidity and air quality sensors, differential pressure switches, current sensors and end switches
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, riser diagrams, equipment manuals and installation specifications to determine device locations and wiring routes
  • Perform point-to-point wiring verification, continuity checks and loop testing on installed circuits using appropriate electrical and electronic testing equipment prior to energizing
  • Install and terminate BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP field bus connections and verify physical network continuity and termination
  • Retrofit and replace obsolete controllers, sensors and field devices on existing systems, including safe removal and disposal of legacy control equipment
  • Coordinate installation activities with licensed electrical contractors, mechanical trades, site staff and project teams, and identify scope requiring regulated electrical installation or modification work
  • Identify defective or damaged control components during installation and replace, adjust or recommend replacement as required
  • Perform preventive maintenance, physical inspection and hardware replacement on installed BAS field equipment
  • Support the commissioning team by confirming installed points respond correctly and by correcting wiring, mounting and termination deficiencies identified during start-up
  • Complete installation records, as-built drawing markups, point-to-point checkout sheets, material and equipment lists, deficiency corrections and work orders

What you bring

  • College diploma or university degree in an engineering or technical field related to electrical systems, electronics, automation, instrumentation or building controls
  • 2–3 years of hands-on installation experience with building automation, HVAC controls, low-voltage systems or electrical field work
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics
  • Experience with low-voltage wiring, terminations and field device installation
  • Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in mechanical rooms and confined spaces
  • WHMIS 2015 certification; Working at Heights (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and own transportation
  • Certificate of Qualification (309A) is considered an asset

What we offer

  • $37.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
  • Mileage reimbursement, on-site parking, paid time off
  • Tools and equipment provided
  • Varied installation and retrofit work across boilers, chillers, air handling and make-up air systems

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including newcomers to Canada, youth and recent graduates, Indigenous applicants, persons with disabilities, and mature workers.
