Type: volunteer in exchange for accommodation and food, more (see below). Not a job.
Host: Hébergement les Pieds sur Terre
Location: Saint-Calixte, 60km north of Montreal, Quebec (incl. accom)
Starting date: As soon as possible
Preferred commitment: 1 to 3 months, with the possibility of staying longer

Would you enjoy living in the forest, contributing to a unique hospitality project, and becoming part of a small and welcoming team?
We are looking for a reliable and independent person to live on-site and help primarily with housekeeping, preparing our accommodations for guests, and responding to simple guest requests.
ABOUT US
Hébergement Les Pieds sur Terre is a small nature-based tourism business located in Saint-Calixte, Quebec, approximately one hour from Montreal and at the gateway to the Laurentians.
We offer nine unique accommodations nestled in the forest, each with its own atmosphere and touch of creativity and magic. Our guests come here to disconnect from city life and enjoy a peaceful, private experience surrounded by nature.

The accommodations are spread across a large wooded property and are accessed by forest trails. We are a small team, and several team members live either directly on the property or nearby.
THE LIVING ARRANGEMENT
The selected person will live in the main house on the property, a beautiful rustic home with a peaceful country-and-forest atmosphere. The house has 2 bedrooms, a shared kitchen, a shared bathroom, and common living areas.
You will have your own private bedroom and will share the house with a member of our team.
Other members of our team live in separate houses on the property. You will therefore have a quiet environment and personal privacy while still being part of a small on-site community.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
We currently have an immediate need for housekeeping support. Until at least November, an important part of the role will involve cleaning and preparing the accommodations between guest stays.
Depending on how busy the day is, you may work independently or alongside another team member. On high-turnover days, the work will generally be shared between two people.
Responsibilities may include:

SCHEDULE AND ON-SITE PRESENCE

We expect an average contribution of approximately four to five hours per day, five days per week, for a total of about 20 to 25 hours per week. The schedule may vary depending on guest departures, arrivals, and occupancy levels.
The selected person will normally have two days off per week. We will establish a clear and reasonable schedule together.
Part of the role also involves sharing responsibility for the on-site presence outside regular working hours. Most evenings are very quiet, and no assistance is required. Occasionally, however, a guest may have a question or need help with something simple.
Evening availability will be scheduled and shared other members of the team. You will not be expected to remain on call all the time. We want everyone to have clearly defined responsibilities as well as genuine personal time.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This opportunity could be a good fit for someone who:
Experience in housekeeping, hospitality, customer service, tourism, or general maintenance is an asset, but attitude, reliability, and compatibility with the household and team are equally important.

Our working language can be English. Speaking French would be a valuable asset, particularly when communicating with some guests and team members, but it is not required.
A GREAT OPTION FOR REMOTE WORKERS
Remote workers are very welcome. The house has reliable, unlimited high-speed Internet.
This arrangement could be especially suitable for someone with a part-time remote job, freelance contracts, online studies, or personal projects who would also enjoy contributing to the daily activities of the property.
Remote work hours, housekeeping responsibilities, and periods of evening availability will be organized together.
WHAT WE OFFER

TRANSPORTATION
It is possible to participate without owning a vehicle. Members of our team can provide rides for certain outings and essential needs, depending on availability.
However, because the property is in a rural area and some distance from shops and services, having your own vehicle would be a definite advantage and would provide greater personal freedom.
LENGTH OF STAY
Our need is immediate and will continue throughout August, September, October, and November, with the possibility of continuing beyond that period.
We are open to different lengths of stay. An initial commitment of one to three months would be ideal. A longer arrangement could be considered if the experience works well for everyone.
