Mariposa Ecological Initiative is a new organization committed to fostering sustainable ecological practices and community engagement.

Our mission is to create a positive impact on the environment through collaboration and innovative solutions that protect biodiversity and their habitats by working with the community and municipal partners. We aim to connect people to nature through community science projects within the Lake Couchiching region, whether it’s building a native perennial garden for pollinators, advocating for better policy or helping educate the public on various topics. We tend to work behind-the-scenes to advocate for positive change while also educating the community through various public event opportunities. Currently serving the Simcoe North region (Central Ontario); Orillia, Severn, Ramara.

We are looking to fill a few vacancies on our Board. We are looking to fill a couple of executive roles in our team; one to help with bookkeeping, tracking expenses and maintaining the financial health of the organization, one to help with communications and coordinate meeting agenda & minutes. Flexible meeting schedules and collaborative work environment. Be part of a passionate team dedicated to ecological sustainability & conservation. .

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership and governance to the organization.
• Participate in board meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Support fundraising efforts and community outreach programs.
• Ensure the organization’s financial stability and compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with other board members and the executive team to achieve organizational goals.
