Help Grow a Community Success Story

Imagine being part of a community success story that preserves local natural spaces while inspiring future stewards of the Earth. Since 1998, Willow Park Ecology Centre (WPEC) has transformed a once-degraded site in Norval into a thriving, biodiverse natural area. Working alongside the Town of Halton Hills, Credit Valley Conservation, local businesses, community partners and volunteers of all ages, we continue to restore and care for this unique urban ravine.

Our guiding belief is that nature care is people care. Research links time spent in nature with benefits to physical and mental health, cognitive function, physical activity and sleep. Through hands-on ecological restoration, education and community programs, we help people connect with nature, build skills and experience these benefits firsthand.

WPEC is a recognized model for ecological restoration and a hub for hands-on learning, offering school field trips, corporate team-building, seasonal events, teen mentorship and adult volunteer opportunities.

Set along the Credit River and Silver Creek, our beautiful ravine provides a place to learn, contribute and enjoy nature.

Help us protect this special place, strengthen our community and nurture knowledge and skills for a greener future. Bring your experience, ideas and enthusiasm to WPEC as we continue to grow our impact. We’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for board members or committee volunteers with experience in:

• Executive positions: Board Chair, Board Secretary, Treasuer
• Finance / Accounting / Administration / Governance Management
• Project, Event (including plans for a 30th anniversary, 2028)
• Business Development, Fundraising or Sponsorship
• Communications, Marketing, or Social Media
• Programming incl. Environmental Education

Commitment:

• Attend monthly board meetings (60–90-minutes, in-person or online)
• Approximately 4–8 hours per month for board activities, committee work and park events.
• Term: up to 4 years; next term starts January 2027. Various positions available
