ABOUT THE ROLE
A Facilitator of Learning (‘Environmental Educator’) is passionate about inspiring young people/students to learn about the environment, through multiple ways of knowing including Indigenous Knowledges, and to be in harmony with lands, waters, and beings.
Based in the Capital Regional District (Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Sooke, Metchosin, Highlands, Juan de Fuca, etc.), you will join the Education Team to improve and deliver place-based education programs for K-12 students, acting as a public-facing representative of Sierra Club BC. You will be required to travel across different school districts and municipalities of the Capital Regional District for this position. You may also be asked to travel to different regions of Vancouver Island outside of the Capital Regional District. You will also engage in pre- and post-program email communication with educators to support them in engaging with SCBC’s educational resources and programming. You will be responsive to the advice and counsel of the Education Program Manager, as well as colleagues within other departments of SCBC. You will collaborate most closely with other Facilitators of Learning and the Education Program Manager.
