About Break The Divide (BTD)

Break The Divide is a Canadian non-profit working at the intersection of climate change, mental health, and justice. We support young people in understanding and navigating their emotional responses to the climate crisis, while building pathways for collective action and community resilience.

Our programs are delivered directly in schools and communities, using peer-led dialogue, storytelling, and facilitation to create spaces where youth can connect their experiences, identities, and emotions to climate action. We work across Canada, with a growing focus on the Prairies, partnering with educators, community organizations, and youth leaders to build more connected and resilient communities. If you care deeply about social change, mental health, and creating space for youth voices, we’d love to work with you

Position Overview

Break The Divide is hiring three Outreach & Research Coordinators to support our growing work across the Prairies.

We are looking for one person based in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba to lead regional outreach, build relationships with schools and community organizations, and support research that strengthens our programs.

This role sits at the intersection of community engagement, education, and climate mental health. You will help expand our Prairie Climate Education & Resilience Program (P-CERP), support local initiatives, and contribute to research and storytelling that informs how we engage young people in climate conversations.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, is curious about education and climate justice, and wants hands-on experience in building and scaling a youth-focused program.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Outreach & Partnerships

  • Conduct outreach to teachers, schools, and school divisions across AB, SK, and MB to support classroom recruitment for the Prairie Climate Education & Resilience Program (P-CERP)
  • Research and build relationships with community organizations working in climate, mental health, and community resilience
  • Support outreach through social media, local Facebook groups, and community channels

2. Resource and Curriculum Development

  • Support development of teacher and community-facing resources on climate emotions, eco-anxiety, and resilience
  • Contribute to research on effective educational strategies, including addressing student apathy in climate education
  • Assist in shaping P-CERP Program roundtable content and general program curriculum

3. Regional & Program Support

  • Support local initiatives (e.g., Regina-based programming for Saskatchewan role)
  • Contribute to planning and outreach for additional BTD programs

Qualifications & Assets:

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, especially in outreach, email writing, and relationship-building
  • Interest in climate change, mental health, education, or community development
  • Comfortable with research, information synthesis, and organizing findings clearly
  • Self-starter who can manage tasks independently in a remote environment

Assets:

  • Based in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba (required)
  • Experience working with youth, schools, or community organizations
  • Familiarity with the education system in your province
  • Experience with outreach, partnerships, or community engagement
  • Interest in climate justice, equity, or mental health work
  • Experience with Google Drive, Notion, or CRM systems
