Contract Position

Position: Content Creator / Social Media Coordinator

Role Overview: We are looking for a talented individual to produce high-quality social media content that helps us expand our impact online through engaging social media content. We’re seeking a creative and dedicated Social Content Creator to help us expand our impact online through engaging social media content.

About Us: Relay Education is supporting the next generation of green leaders. Relay, a registered charity, leads education and training programs on renewable energy, climate science and green jobs across Canada and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Calendaring: Develop a monthly content calendar with posts that align with our brand and goals.
  • Content Ideas and Creation: Come up with content ideas, research/write and design posts that are appropriate for Relay Education’s social media feeds that focus on environmental and energy topics (prior knowledge on these topics preferred).
  • Short-form Content Creation: Film and edit engaging reels and short videos for Facebook and Instagram that work for topics related to Relay’s work, the platform’s algorithms, and help to grow our social presence.
  • Optimize social performance through engagement strategies
  • Provide input on the overall direction of the social media presence and how to improve
  • Help increase followers and engagement metrics to reach relevant audiences (metrics/goals will be set together as part of contract)
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor post and ad performance, reporting on key metrics to continuously refine our strategy.
  • Make suggestions/recommendations for paid ad content to help reach new audiences for marketing our school programs and other audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in social media content creation, particularly on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Strong understanding and ability of how to maximize trends, play to the algorithms and create posts that align with Relay’s brand/mission.
  • Strong video and reel production skills.
  • Experience creating content about environmental topics (renewable energy, energy conservation, green careers, sustainability).
  • Creative and proactive, with an ability to work independently while aligning with our mission.
  • Knowledge of running paid ads on Meta is beneficial
  • Prefer someone with understanding of environment/climate topics and policies in Canada

Budget: We have a monthly budget of $1,000 CAN for this role. We’re open to a retainer model or developing a set number of posts per month within this budget.
