About ChocoSol

ChocoSol Traders is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker and social enterprise rooted in ecological and equitable trade relationships.

Through cacao, chocolate, coffee, and community engagement, we work to foster meaningful connections between producers, workers, retailers, and customers while supporting regenerative food systems and sustainable livelihoods.

The St. Lawrence Market Boutique serves as both a retail destination and an innovation hub for ChocoSol. Alongside retail sales and hospitality, the boutique plays an important role in product development, small-batch production, customer education, and market testing.

The Role

We are seeking a positive and highly organized community-minded Assistant Manager for our St. Lawrence Market Boutique — a combined retail space and product innovation hub. This role balances daily retail managerial operations with beverage making, unique chocolate product development & marketing strategy with direct client relations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operations: assist in documenting, refining, and implementing operational procedures, improve communication and organizational effectiveness.
  • Community Engagement: build relationships with neighbouring businesses, market vendors, office towers, community organizations, and local stakeholders; participate in St. Lawrence Market events, BIA initiatives, and community outreach opportunities.
  • Customer Experience & Sales: Deliver exceptional hospitality, share ChocoSol’s ecological trade philosophy, process POS transactions, and drive sales through visual merchandising and engagement.
  • Beverage Program: Prepare and serve signature cacao beverages, mochas, and coffee; assist in developing seasonal drinks.
  • Inventory & Logistics: Monitor boutique stock levels and coordinate replenishment across retail, market, and production teams.
  • Cross-Department Support: Assist with chocolate production/packaging during slow periods and support farmers market operations (setup, sales, teardown) as needed.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Experience in hospitality, specialty food retail, café operations, or food service.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong organization, system-building, and communication skills.
  • Passionate about sustainability, food systems, chocolate, and community business.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Assets: Supervisory experience and a Food Handler Certification (can be obtained post-hire).

Physical Requirements & Availability

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including mandatory early Saturday shifts.

What We Offer

  • Equitable pay and employee product discounts & tips.
  • Deep learning to bean-to-bar chocolate production and ecological trade.
  • A collaborative, learning-oriented social enterprise culture.
  • Career growth and long-term advancement opportunities.
