Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks, the Parks Operator position is responsible for maintaining parks, open spaces, streetscapes, sports fields, sport courts and other public areas, with a priority focus on the Health & Active Living Plaza Park. Duties include oversight and direction of seasonal staff and student park labourers, grass cutting, edging and trimming, tree/shrub trimming, removal of litter and other trash, garbage and recyclable container collection and winter maintenance activities including salting, plowing and snow clearing. Delivers and sets up picnic tables, chairs, garbage receptacles and other equipment to support Town and community sponsored special events, attends event if required to perform oversight, troubleshooting, caretaking, cleaning and tear down responsibilities.
Monthly inspection and maintenance of sports fields and courts including: visual inspections and maintaining digital logs of conditions and remedial work required. Weekly, monthly and annual checks of baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, soccer fields and grass cutting logs, as well as performing repairs to assets and coordinating contracted services as required, and other duties as assigned.
Successful candidates will have a minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma, with three years working experience in municipal parks maintenance and/or private sector landscape and grounds maintenance. Additional requirements include:
Salary Range: $69,722 – $82,033 (Band 4)
