Summer student: Educational Interpreter

About the position

The Educational Interpreter develops and facilitates projects and initiatives that advance education, accessibility, and appreciation of the Fundy Biosphere Region. The interpreter maintains this responsibility through administrative tasks, partnership management, community engagement and outreach, and interpretation through storytelling.

Key responsibilities

  • Support and deliver public education and interpretive tours
  • Assist with the delivery of the Amazing Places program and provide information on the regional wayfinding Driftscape
  • Communicate with the public about tide times and the ecology and geology of the Bay of Fundy
  • Assist in other public engagement events and projects (i.e. information booths at regional festivals)
  • Collaborate with and support the Visitor Information Centre staff in Fundy Albert
  • Support development and delivery of ecotourism programming in collaboration with other organizations in the community
  • Support project managers on report and grant writing
  • Facilitate content creation for Social Media

Qualifications

  • Must be a student with education focusing on Heritage/History, Tourism, Biology, Geology, Environmental Science, and other relevant sectors.
  • Bilingual as asset
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of landscape or marine conservation mechanisms, targets, and issues
  • Experience coordinating projects including, planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize key objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, and other platforms

Work term and rate

  • 12-week Summer contract
  • The pay scale is 17$/hr based on a 35 hour work week.
