About Be the Change Earth Alliance (BTCEA)

Be the Change Earth Alliance is a Vancouver-based charitable non-profit founded in 2005. We deliver eco-social education programs that engage youth and educators in meaningful learning and action on environmental, social, and climate justice issues.

About the Role

We are hiring three Summer Program Assistant positions. These roles work collaboratively with BTCEA staff to support the design, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of our educational programs.

All programs aim to engage and empower youth to take personal and collective action on climate, environmental, and social justice issues.

This is a highly collaborative role that involves a mix of research, content development, communications, and program support.

Core Responsibilities (All Positions)

Educational Program & Content Development

• Support the creation and revision of environmental learning resources for youth and educators
• Adapt and synthesize research into accessible, youth-friendly content

Research & Analysis

• Conduct online and/or academic research on relevant topics
• Support the development of data collection and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) systems

Program Implementation & Improvement

• Assist with workshop and program updates and revisions

Communications & Outreach

• Support communications, report writing, and social media promotion

Areas of Focus

In addition to core responsibilities, candidates may bring interest and/or experience in one or more of the following areas. Please indicate your level of familiarity and interest in each in your application.

Website Management

• Comfort with digital tools and troubleshooting
• Experience updating and maintaining webpages (basic familiarity with HTML is an asset)

Marketing & Graphic Design

• Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Acrobat DC
• Interest in supporting or developing marketing initiatives (experience is an asset)

Indigenous Relationship-Building

• Strong, respectful communication skills
• Interest in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous partners and communities
• Knowledge of, or experience engaging with, Indigenous contexts, communities, or organizations through work, study, community involvement, or lived experience is an asset

Community Outreach

• Strong, respectful communication skills
• Experience supporting outreach, engagement, or partnership development
• Experience working with diverse communities is an asset

Core Requirements (All Positions)

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Interest in climate, environmental, and/or social justice issues
• Comfort using (or willingness to learn) digital tools such as Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and communication platforms (e.g., Slack)
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Selection will be based on skills, experience, and alignment with the role requirements.

Assets (All Positions)

• Experience in educational programs or youth engagement
• Experience with research, content development, or curriculum design
• Experience with graphic design, communications, or social media
• Experience with data collection, evaluation, or basic analysis
• Relevant knowledge or experience gained through lived experience, community involvement, education, or work

Position Details

• Term: 8 weeks (July–August 2026; some flexibility in start/end dates)
• Hours: 35 hours per week
• Wage: $18.50 per hour
• Location: Hybrid (remote and in-person at BTCEA’s Vancouver office)

Candidates must be located within Metro Vancouver and able to attend in-person work weekly.

Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements

This position is partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
