About TAF’s Retrofit Accelerator Analyst

Deep energy retrofits are transforming how multi‑family buildings operate across the GTHA, and TAF’s Retrofit Accelerator is at the centre of that change — providing hands‑on technical support, project coordination, and real‑time building performance insights that make retrofits smoother and more effective.

We’re hiring two Analysts to help propel this work forward. This role gets you right into the action: coordinating project milestones and budgets, conducting on‑site assessments, setting up and troubleshooting energy and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) monitoring equipment, and working closely with building owners, site staff, and residents to keep activities running smoothly.

Analysts also work deeply with data — analyzing building performance, supporting measurement and verification (M&V), reviewing studies, and contributing to case studies and research that advance retrofit practices.

These positions report to the Senior Manager, Retrofit Services or Manager, Technical Services, and combine technical problem‑solving with real‑world climate impact. Ideal for someone energized by complex buildings, collaboration, and turning data into meaningful change.

What you’ll do:

Project Delivery

  • Coordinate timelines, budgets, and deliverables across deep retrofit projects.
  • Conduct on‑site assessments, install and troubleshoot energy and IEQ monitoring equipment, and support on‑site logistics.
  • Collaborate with building owners, site staff, residents, vendors, and service providers to keep projects moving — from suite entries to equipment deliveries.
  • Support the process of securing participation agreements and contribute to high‑quality technical reviews and feasibility assessments.

Data, M&V & Insights

  • Turn building performance data into clear insights by organizing, analyzing, and reporting on energy and IEQ metrics.
  • Support M&V from planning to reporting, ensuring reliable data and accurate performance evaluation.
  • Produce sharp technical reports, case studies, and documentation that inform decision‑making.
  • Improve data systems and project processes to keep our work running smoothly.

Research & Market Impact

  • Contribute to research on retrofit implementation, building decarbonization, and emerging monitoring technologies.
  • Support market‑development activities that help accelerate deep retrofits across the GTHA.
  • Share lessons learned through reports, case studies, and other publications.

Collaboration & Culture

  • Build strong relationships with building owners and partners to support project delivery.
  • Work across teams to share knowledge, align efforts, and strengthen project outcomes.
  • Take part in staff‑wide initiatives, working groups, and professional development.

Application process:

Head over to our application page to get started. You’ll upload your résumé (no cover letter required) and answer a few short questions about your experience and approach. You’ll receive a link to return and edit your responses before submitting. We also collect optional demographic information to help us understand applicant diversity. These responses are confidential, not linked to your application, and will not be seen by the hiring team.

Once the posting closes, we’ll use a de‑biased sift process: responses are anonymized, randomized, and scored by multiple reviewers.

Please avoid using AI to write your application responses. While AI tools can produce polished answers, they often result in many applicants submitting nearly identical content. Our reviewers read every application, and repeated AI generated phrasing is both frustrating and unhelpful for assessing candidates. Our screening tools also detect fully AI generated submissions, and applications that appear AI written may not move forward. Our questions aren’t designed to trick you — they’re meant to help us understand your own thinking. Your ideas, in your own words, are what we’re looking for.

If your responses rank in the top 10–20% of applicants, we’ll review your resume. While we value your background, we place greater emphasis on your answers to the sift questions than on your formal credentials.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an in-person interview at our Toronto office (virtual accommodations available). Finalists will complete a technical assessment and participate in a second interview. Before making an offer, we’ll connect with your professional references to learn more about your working style and contributions.

We aim to complete the process within six weeks of the posting close date. Regardless of the outcome, you’ll hear back from us once the process is complete. Thanks for your interest in joining TAF!
