Position: Education Program Officer
Type: age 30 & under / summer

  • Hours Per Week: 35
  • Hourly Rate: $22

Conditions: This position is made available through grant funding and as such, the successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Candidate must be between 21-30 years old
  • Participants must be post-secondary graduates.
  • Candidate must have Canadian citizenship, Canadian permanent residency status, or Canadian refugee status.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Education Program Officer will work closely with the Programs Team to support the development and implementation of the EcoSchools Board and school based programs and related projects. The Education Program Officer will also collaborate with other EcoSchools team members including the Executive Director and Communications Manager on broader initiatives. Both remote and in-office positions will be available. The Education Program Officer will work closely with the programs team on the delivery, growth, and improvement of program offerings, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting Ecoschools certification assessment
  • Supporting with finding school stories and preparing impact reports
  • Supporting with end-of-year surveys
  • Conducting a review of resources and implementing recommendations for updates and improvement
  • Contributing to the development of program resources
  • Providing administrative support to programs, projects, and partnerships
  • Responding to basic questions from schools and general inquiries
  • Working closely with the programs team and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience developing learning and communication materials (i.e., guides, factsheets, newsletters, worksheets, workshops, webinars, etc.)
  • Outstanding organizational, research, evaluation, and report writing skills
  • Proficiency with Google App Suite (i.e., Email, Drive, Sheets, Slides, etc.) and other online tools and software (i.e., Zoom, Slack, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet tight deadlines
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, positivity, and flexibility

Assets

  • Experience or familiarity with the EcoSchools program
  • Knowledge of the Canadian K-12 education system
  • Experience working within the nonprofit sector
  • Fluency in French considered an asset (oral and/or written)
  • Experience or training in the area of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and/or experience working with Indigenous communities
