  • Lead the application process for Registered Charity status with the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Articulate and draft the Trust’s initial founding principles and operational policies.

2. Committee Support & Administration

  • Act as Recording Secretary for the Community Advisory and Scientific Advisory committees.
  • Coordinate the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the society.
  • Serve as "virtual receptionist," managing all voice, text, and email inquiries.
  • Maintain detailed records on protected properties, easement statistics, and monitoring reports.

3. Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partnership Building: Establish at least five key partnerships with community groups.
  • Communications: Develop the Trust’s website, print materials, and social media presence.
  • Landowner Relations: Build relationships with landowners to discuss protection tools and easement agreements.
  • Public Education: Promote farmland protection through blogs, newsletters, and media outreach.

4. Financial & Project Management

  • Oversee project budgets and ensure financial compliance.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives and prepare future funding applications/proposals.
  • Produce a comprehensive final report at the end of the contract term.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven Experience: Successful track record in charity registration and non-profit incorporation.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing skills for compelling blogs, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Leadership: Experience working with volunteer committees and diverse stakeholders (government, farmers, community groups).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of land conservation principles, easement agreements, and (ideally) GIS software.
  • Independence: Ability to work as the sole paid staff member, maintaining high self-motivation and organization.
  • Values: A deep passion for agricultural preservation and ecological health in BC.
