Position: Web & Communications Specialist, Climate Programs
Organization: Windfall Ecology Centre
Location: Aurora, ON | Hybrid (3 days in office per week)

  • Position type: Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Compensation: $50,000-56,000 Annually

  • Reports to: Manager, Digital Communications

As Web & Communications Specialist, you will support how Windfall’s programs and initiatives are presented across digital channels, strengthening engagement, accessibility, and consistency across public-facing communications. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to meaningful climate action while building experience in strategic communications and web content management. It is well suited to someone who is detail-oriented, creative, and motivated by environmental impact, with an interest in combining content development and technical web skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

What you’ll do

Content and communications

  • Support communications plans and campaigns aligned with organisational and program goals.
  • Create and edit website copy, newsletters, blog posts, case studies, campaign materials, and impact stories.
  • Translate technical climate and sustainability information into clear public-facing content.
  • Edit and format web content in HTML for accurate, accessible publishing.
  • Maintain consistent tone, messaging, and brand voice. Web and digital engagement
  • Support digital communications, content calendars and publishing schedules.
  • Publish and update website content in a custom CMS or web platform.
  • Apply SEO and accessibility best practices, including headings, metadata, links, and page structure.
  • Monitor performance and engage online audiences to strengthen reach and impact. Campaign support and performance
  • Contribute to campaign planning and delivery with program staff and external partners.
  • onduct research to support audience insights and message development.
  • Review and test web pages to resolve formatting, layout, link, and functionality issues.
  • Support basic troubleshooting of HTML, CSS, and simple JavaScript.
  • Track communications activity and performance metrics for reporting and improvement.
  • Assist with visual and multimedia assets that strengthen storytelling.

What you’ll bring

  • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, web communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of experience in communications, digital marketing, web content management, or audience engagement.
  • Interest in or experience with climate, energy, sustainability, or the non-profit sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills across audiences and digital channels.
  • Strong web content QA skills, including testing and resolving formatting or functionality issues.
  • Basic HTML for editing web content, including page structure, links, images, headings, and formatting.
  • Experience creating and updating web content using custom CMS and Web platforms.
  • Working knowledge of CSS and basic JavaScript for troubleshooting and simple updates.
  • Knowledge of SEO and accessibility best practices.
  • Experience with social media platforms, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing, Google Analytics, and Google Ads is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and commitment to privacy and information management standards
  • Alignment with Windfall’s environmental values and community-centred approach.

Eligibility requirement

This position may be funded in part by the Government of Canada through ECO Canada and is open to applicants aged 15–30 who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or hold refugee status in Canada.
