About the CFC
The Concordia Food Coalition (CFC) is a non-profit organization and a fee-levy group operating at Concordia University.

The CFC brings together students, faculty, staff and community members to co-create campus-community food sovereignty. We collaborate to educate, innovate and incubate vibrant, sustainable, accessible and democratic local food systems. We aim to democratize the campus food system by moving away from corporate models while organizing towards student-led change.

Wage: $26.00 per hour
Work schedule: 20 hours per week
Contract duration: May 4th 2026 - May 3rd 2027

Scope of this Position
As the Market Coordinator, this position will co-lead the Concordia Food Coalition's (CFC) strategy and programming with a primary focus on managing the CFC Farmers’ Market, a flagship project of the CFC, and developing a new food surplus capture and redistribution program. The role ensures the growth and sustainability of the Farmers' Market and oversees the development of key food waste reduction strategies and partnerships. The Coordinator will also play a role in strategic program improvement and advocacy within the food system at Concordia.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Ensure the sustainability and long-term development of food-related initiatives, working closely with community partners, food group leaders, and CFC staff.
- Adapt programming and strategy in response to emerging challenges and opportunities in the campus food system.
Program Management
May - November | Market Season Priorities:
- Farmers' Market Oversight: Provide strategic and logistical direction to the Farmers’ Market
- Ensure program operation, sustainability, and financial management of the Market
- Vendor support, and student/food group engagement
- Ensure proper documentation and communication with Concordia administration and DSAs
- Launch and track the Market Dollars program in collaboration with partners
- Train and oversee Market Volunteers/Interns
- Update MAPAQ guidelines document and make sure all vendors are properly informed
- Move and lift items and equipment up to 40lbs
November - May | Off Season Priorities:
- Food Surplus Redistribution Project Development: Lead the planning and development of a new food surplus redistribution platform and network:
- Partner with Concordia Administration to create a tracking system for all events with food surplus
- Partner with the LOYC 420 internship program (Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability) and lead the development of a food surplus redistribution tracking system, create methods and networks for collecting and updating data
- Partner with MealCare to create a chapter/working group organizing volunteers to collect and redistribute food surplus through the community fridge network
- Campus Food Reform: Support the General Coordinator and the Food Network Coordinator in the implementation of the new Strategic Directions and develop the Campus Food Reform goals, such as but not limited to:
- Supporting the increase of student vendors
- MAPAQ Training (Communal Pot Collaboration)
- More access to MAPAQ certified kitchens
- Expand Farmers’ Market
- More vendors
- Negotiate with Campus Health and Safety to increase capacity (include heating elements for vendors, for example)
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Build and maintain relationships with food group leaders, student organizers, faculty, administrators, and community partners to expand partnerships and collaborative projects.
- Represent CFC in networks, committees, and working groups to advocate for food justice policies and alternative campus food systems, such as for the Food Surplus Redistribution project.
Mentorship & Stewardship
- Support the recruitment, training, and management of interns and volunteers engaged in Market and eventually Food Surplus Redistribution programming
- Provide clear direction and guidance on work plans, ensuring intern responsibilities align with the CFC Strategies, that they understand their tasks and have the resources they need to complete their duties.
- Oversee and/or work closely with:
- Farmers’ Market Intern
- LOYC 420 Interns
- Outreach Intern

Program Evaluation & Reporting:
- Establish strategic goals for the Farmers’ Market and the Food Surplus Redistribution Project and maintain collaborative reporting documents and tracking systems to assess the effectiveness of initiatives.
- Collect feedback from groups, students, faculty and community stakeholders whenever possible, to continually improve program delivery and support services.
- Prepare activity briefs and end of semester evaluations for Market initiatives, collecting and analyzing feedback from food groups and stakeholders.
General Responsibilities
- Communicate weekly updates to the Coordinator Team on the status of Interns, events & initiatives, and other related programs.
- Participate in weekly team meetings (at least one in-person per semester) and organizational development, strategic, or program planning meetings as needed (some evenings)
- Prepare monthly reports for monthly Board Meetings and Annual General Meetings.
- Establish a reliable weekly work schedule and communicate schedule changes to the Coordinator team
- Log work time and paid time off in the assigned time tracker on a daily basis
- Preparing for and participating in self and peer evaluations (twice annually)
- Take initiative in identifying and addressing personal areas for skill development, seeking out training opportunities and financial support for professional development
- Maintain compassionate communications and collaborative work relationships with teammates and Board
- Maintaining organization and conformity in collaborative, virtual and physical file sharing
- Understanding your role and responsibilities as stipulated in this job description
- Familiarizing yourself with and adhering to the CFC Constitution, policies, history, and general operations
Qualifications
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to be both empathetic and firm in managing relationships and conflict
- Dedication towards building sustainable, healthy, affordable, and non-corporate food systems
- Proven track record in program coordination and stakeholder collaboration in community-based food systems
- Demonstrated leadership, strategy, multi-tasking and time-management abilities
- Excellent English oral and written skills, intermediate French oral and written skills (required)
- Familiarity with Concordia University’s institutional processes and the campus milieu an asset
