Position: Wildlife Care Attendant

We are looking for dedicated and passionate people to join our wildlife care team this summer. Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre, located in Val Caron Ontario, admits and cares for birds, mammals and reptiles native to northern Ontario. We admit orphans as well as injured and ill adults, including songbirds, waterbirds, raptors, small to medium sized mammals, turtles, snakes and amphibians. Our mission is to returns wildlife back to the wild.

The wildlife care technician positions are available for a period of at least 8 weeks, starting in June 2026.

Duties include the daily care of animals, including feeding, cleaning, husbandry set ups and health monitoring.

Wildlife care personnel are also involved in wound care, administering medications, health assessment and some clinical testing. The technicians work closely with staff and volunteers in an extremely busy environment.

This work experience is well suited to individuals persuing careers in animal sciences and wildlife conservation fields. Position is full time (40 hours per week) at a wage of $18.00 per hour.

  • safe animal handling
  • feeding techniques
  • wound management
  • husbandry set-ups
  • stress reduction techniques

We are looking for dedicated and reliable team members. Candidates must be motivated, able to work in all weather conditions and work well in a group as well as independently. Physical work tasks are involved. Animal care experience is prefered but not required.

Due to the rural location of the centre, transportation is required.
Limited on-site accomodations may be available at no cost.
